Wrighty: Rooney deserves love from Man Utd fans

Ian Wright believes Wayne Rooney should be receiving more support from the Manchester United faithful.

The Red Devils captain continues to be linked with a move to China and although it doesn't appear he will be off in the next week or so, the 31-year-old could be on his way in the summer.

Former Arsenal star Wright suggests the writing could be on the wall for Rooney, such is the form of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but feels the Red Devils fans could get behind the club legend a little bit more.

“Wayne Rooney's done unbelievable things considering the pressure he was under when he first arrived," The Sun pundit said on his podcast.

“Winning leagues, Champions Leagues, the club's record goalscorer. If Wayne Rooney left now, I would like him to get some more love from the fans.

“But there's a lot in place for Man United now, with Mkhitaryan emerging as the number 10 and Zlatan staying on next season."
