Ghanaian striker Yakubu Mohammed made a return from injury in Maritzburg United's 2-0 win over Mpumalanga Black Aces on Wednesday.
Mohammed, a new recruit, has been in the treatment room since playing in the 0-0 draw with Pretoria University at the end of August.
Maritzburg coach Ernst Middendorp handed the former AshantiGold top scorer a starting role.
He was withdrawn after 54 minutes and his place was taken by Thabang Matuka.
Maritzburg scored twice through Ayanda Nkosi and Mario Booysen within the first 10 minutes for their first win of the season.
Mpumalanga Black Aces were reduced to ten men after Sandile Zuke was sent off after just half an hour of play.
