Striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom believes Asamoah Gyan is the right man to be installed as Ghana captain.

The 19-year-old has no doubts about the leadership qualities of the Al Ain striker ahead of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Boakye-Yiadom, signed by Juventus in the summer but on loan to Serie B side Sassuolo, believes Gyan can help end Ghana's trophy drought.

''I believe he is the right candidate and our chances of winning the trophy at South Africa 2013 [AFCON] has never been brighter,'' he said.

''I believe he is the right man and that means the GFA [Ghana Football Association], the Black Stars Management Committee and the technical framework displayed great vision.''

"He is fit-for-purpose because we all know is loves football and gives in 100% of his effort and at the same possessing great experience, humour and respect.

"Why shouldn't we be pleased and hopeful after his appointment by coach [Akwasi Appiah]?"

Boakye-Yiadom celebrated his goal for Ghana on his debut in the 1-1 draw with China by running to Gyan who was on the bench.
