Deputy Youth and Sports Minister-Designate Pius Hadzide bewails low GPL patronage

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister-Designate Pius Enam Hadzide has lamented on the low patronage of the ongoing Ghana Premier League after watching Sunday’s Super Clash.

Hadzide, who was the campaign aide to the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana-Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo during the December general elections was last week named as one of the 50 persons who will be vetted for the position of deputies in the various ministries.

After his appointment, many sporting enthusiasts demonstrated their concern with regard to his sporting background, but he quickly quelled off that notion by confessing his affiliation to premier league giants Asante Kotoko during an interview on Accra-based radio station Happy FM.

Speaking after watching the much anticipated clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium, Hadzide bemoaned the low turnout of supporters at the supposed biggest game of the Ghana Premier League calendar.

“I’m really disappointed with the turnout of supporters at this game. I was expecting a much bigger crowd than this because you could count the empty seats, which was bad,” he told reporters.

Hearts of Oak broke their seven-year home jinx against Asante Kotoko when defender Vincent Atinga slotted home a late controversial penalty to win them the day.

Pius Hadzide, meanwhile will be working with Isaac Asiamah, who is the substantive Minister in charge of the Youth and Sports Ministry of parliament once the mandatory vetting process is concluded.
