Zamalek defence was weak: Hat-trick hero Clottey

Berekum Chelsea striker Emmanuel Clottey says he capitalized on the frailties of Zamalek's defence to bag a hat-trick in Saturday's 3-2 win in Accra.

The 24-year-old's opener was a blistering header before he rounded up goalkeeper Abdel-Wahed El-Sayed two minutes after the break.

Clottey's third and match winner was a tap in from inside the box after collecting a pass from Ibrahim Issaka on the 90th minute mark.

"I knew their defenders were going to commit mistakes and I would punish them for it," Clottey said.

"In the competition if a striker scores six times all eyes are going to be on him.

"I was determined to score a goal but I scored a hat-trick thanks be to God."

Clottey, who now leads the scorer chart in the competition with nine goals, believes they can progress from the Group stage.

"Berekum Chelsea is going far in this competition and I can assure them that I will win the goal king crown."

Chelsea will next play former champions TP Mazembe before Al Ahly.
