Renard has said he is to blame for Zambia's disgraceful failure

Head coach Herve Renard has said he is to blame for Zambia’s disgraceful failure to reach the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals.

The defending champions were eliminated after a 0-0 draw against Burkina Faso in their final Group C game on Tuesday.

“I loved my team tonight. If there is someone who is responsible then it’s me, not my players,” said Renard.

While Zambia exited the competition, Burkina Faso celebrated a first second round qualification on foreign soil.

The Chipolopolo claimed a shock tournament victory in last year’s event as they beat favourites Ivory Coast in a dramatic penalty shoot-out.

But draws against Ethiopia, Nigeria and the Stallions saw the Super Eagles progress at their expense thanks to a brace of penalties from Victor Moses in their final fixture.

The result ensured Zambia became the first holders to exit the competition at the group stage in 21 years.

“It’s better to have won something in your life than always qualify for the quarter-finals, but never win anything,” said Frenchman Renard.

“This is not the end of the world. Before we used to go home a lot of times after the first round, and today you have to accept that this is football.

“Everybody is sad but my players did their maximum, and I’m very proud of them. It’s not the end of the world.”

The stalemate with Zambia owed much to a dogged performance from Burkina Faso as they chose to flood the midfield and slow play down.

Believe me, your firing package is waiting for you at Zambia. Stay and rally behind the Black Stars. You have done your best sir Renard.

  2. Dr Who says:

Renard is indeed a joker.CAF took that decision before the 2012 AFCON was played so if he wanted to play the Confederation cup he should have won 2013 AFCON rather than 2012.Anyway,Ghana will certainly be in Brazil either as African Champs or African representatives in 2014 WC.Brazil, here we come!

    ZAMBIA,ZAMBIA,ZAMBIA ,ZAMBIA,ZAMBIA,ZAMBIA,ZAMBIA,ZAMBIA,ZAMBIA
TO THE ZAMBIANS .NOW I AM HERE.TODAY I REALLY CAME LATE BECAUSE I WATCHED THE GAME AROUND 1;00 WHEN EVERYONE MIGHT BE SLEEPING ALL BECAUSE I WANTED TO SEE THE ARROGANT ZAMBIANS CRUSHED OUT.NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE ANY GOOD TEAM BUT JUST BECAUSE THEY SUDDENLY GREW FEATHERS WHEN GOD ONLY TESTED THEM BY MAKING THEM CHAMPIONS FOR ONCE.I AM SURE MOST OF MY COMMENTS HERE WARNED THE ZAMBIANS TO BE WARE OF THOSE INSULTS THEY WERE POURING ON THE GOOD PEOPLE OF GHANA AND EVEN GAVE THEM A BIT OF BIBLICAL KNOWLEDGE THAT,IF ONE TRIES TO TAKE THE POWER AND WISDOM OF GOD IN HIS OWN HANDS TO FATTEN AND MAKE ONESELF PROUD AND SUPERIOR,THEN GOD WILL QUICKLY GROUND YOU AND PUT YOU BACK TO THE BOTTOM .AS WHAT HAPPENED TO LUCIFER FROM HEAVEN TO THIS EARTH, SO IT HAS BEEN WITH THE ZAMBIANS.YOUR WINGS WERE EXTENDED TOO FAR BEYOND ALL EXPECTED ANGLES TO THE EXTEND OF RATING YOUR TEAM AS A MUCH BETTER TEAM THE MANY STRONG AFRICAN TEAMS SUCH AS IVORY COAST,NIGERIA,CAMEROON,SOUTH AFRICA,EGYPT,SENEGAL AND ABOVE ALL GHANA.GHANA HAS BEEN DEFAMED TOTALLY BY THE ZAMBIANS TO THE EXTENT THAT THE HUGE ACHIEVEMENTS AND FAME GHANA HAS BROUGHT TO AFRICA SOCCER IS EVEN OVERSHADOWED BY THE CHAMPIONSHIP OF ZAMBIA IN THE 21ST CENTURY .THEY ARGUE GHANA JUST WON THE CUP WHEN THE COMPETITION WAS MADE UP OF ONLY SIX AFRICAN TEAMS.THEIR MEMORIES ARE SHORT FORGETTING THAT GHANA HAS TAKING PART IN THE COMPETITION ALMOST EVERY TIME AND HAS BEEN EVEN CLOSE TO WINNING THE CUP.THEY RULED OUT THE FACT THAT GHANA HAS BEEN TO THE WORLD CUP TWO STRAIGHT TIMES WITHOUT DISAPPOINTING AT ALL AND WITH THE LAST EDITION TURNING TO REPRESENT THE ENTIRE CONTINENT OF AFRICA AND NOT JUST GHANA IN SOUTH AFRICA 2010.PRIOR TO THIS YEARS TOURNAMENT,ZAMBIA CLAIMED SOUTH AFRICA WAS THEIR HOME AND WILL DISCIPLINE GHANA AND ALL WEST AFRICAN TEAMS AND EVEN CAMPED IN SOUTH AFRICA FOR THEIR WARM UP GAMES.WHAT ARE WE SEEING NOW?I SAID ALL WEST AFRICAN TEAMS ARE GOING TO MAKE IT TO THE SECOND ROUND AND POSSIBLY WINNING THE CUP BY ONE OF THEM AND HERE WE GO.I PERSONALLY DON’T CARE WHICH WEST AFRICAN COUNTRY WINS THE CUP AS LONG AS THEY ARE CAPABLE THOUGH I WOULD BE MORE HAPPIER IF MY NATIVE COUNTRY GHANA WINS IT.

A POINT OF CAUTION TO ZAMBIANS
1 .FROM NOW,I SUGGEST ALL ZAMBIANS RESPECT THEMSELVES FOR WHAT THEY POST ON OUR GHANAIAN SOCCER SITES.
    2. ZAMBIANS SHOULD LEARN TO RESPECT GHANAIAN NATIONALS IF THEY WANT DUE RESPECT FROM US BECAUSE RESPECT IS RECIPROCAL
    3. ACCEPT THE FACT THAT YOUR TEAM IS NOT RATED AS ONE OF THE POWER HOUSES IN AFRICAN FOOTBALL.
4.RESPECT THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE BIG AFRICAN FOOTBALLING NATIONS AND LOUD THEM ,ESPECIALLY GHANA BLACK STARS.
5.FEED YOURSELVES WITH MILK AND NOT BONES AT THIS MOMENT BECAUSE YOUR TEAM IS YOUNG.[BIBLICAL]
6.START A NEW TEAM AND TAKE YOUR TIME TO BUILD IT,WHILE SEEKING FOR GUIDANCE FROM THE LEADER TEAMS IN THE LIKES OF IVORY COAST,SENEGAL,EGYPT,MALI,CAMEROON,…….AND ABOVE ALL GHANA.
7.HUMBLE YOURSELVES SO THAT GOD IN HIS OWN MERCIES MAY RAISE YOU FOR THE BIBLE SAYS WHOEVER RAISES HIMSELF UP SHALL BE BROUGHT DOWN.IN OTHER-WORDS RESPECT YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER SO THAT YOU LIVE LONG ON THE EARTH AND THAT WAS WHAT ZAMBIA FAILED TO DO.
THEY FORGOT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE FACT THAT IT WAS BY GRACE THAT THEY WON THE LAST EDITION OF THE COMPETITION IN 2012 BUT NOT BY MIGHT.THEY TOOK EVERYTHING IN THEIR OWN CAPACITY AND SHOWED GROSS INSUBORDINATION TO THE FATHER TEAMS OF WHICH GHANA WAS THE MOSTLY ATTACKED TEAM.

WE HAVE ALL SEEN THE POWER IN THE WORDS GOD INSTRUCTED MEN OF WISDOM TO WRITE IN THE BIBLE FOR OUR LEARNING.LONG LIVE AFRICA,LONG LIVE GHANA AND THE BLACK STARS.

    • One Bullet says:

Your essay is very long and boring to read, but we Zambian have now adopted the black stars as the team to support.Lets go Black stars !

    • Chipolopolo says:

Good riddance! Now Change your stage name before the same fate befell you

    • Gimli says:

@zambia is our toilet hole. There is no such thing as a west african unity my friend(i’m speaking in football terms here). I don’t follow that close the continental football lately(due to lack of time), but it just amazes me to observe this amount of hatred between Ghanaians and Zambians. And i’m not sure in what extend this applies to other west african nationals. You spoke of arrogance, coming from the zambian side, especially after winning AFCON 2012. You speak of whom? The zambian press and fans? Could be, but in any case, it would be hard for me to imagine that the whole of their press and fans endorse such a state of mind. Wouldn’t be wise for you to envisage what would’ve hapened, had Ghana won last year’s tournament? Can you exclude the possibility a portion of the local media and fans, to behave exactly the same way? Would you try, in that case, to justify them, provding as a sole argument, the rich heritage that Ghana enjoys in football, far richer than Zambia’s? Would this be a cause or just an alibi for justification? The way i see it, this world will always witness this kind of behavior but only the shallow and narrow minded people will try to put a generic label on it. And the politicians of course! Regardless of in which extend everyone believes that Zambia deserved to win AFCON 2012, i think it is natural, up to a certain point, to be envious towards such an achievement. I would say that it is even healthy, as long as you are not driven by vanity and resentment. I was sad after last year’s semi final, because obviously, i was supporting the Black Stars. And yes, i was even envious in some point, watching them lifting that trophy. But why resent them and even hate them? Because of a shallow minded article on a site or a newspaper? Generalising, by focusing on someone’s erroneous behavior, reminds me of the ostrich, that ditches its head into the sand, when feeling persecuted. Don’t let a single blemish in the human behavior, block your view. Thus, you will never be able to fully estimate your own flaws and work on them. If this is, for instance, the mentality inside the national team of Ghana(and i don’t think it is the case), they don’t stand a chance to progress in their own path of achievements. I repeat that i don’t follow that close proceedings, concerning foreign press and so on lately. But when it comes to the zambian national team, at least during the last two AFCON tournaments, i haven’t for a minute felt arrogance coming from their players and technical staff. You spoke of a west african unity? Do you think if CIV wins, for example, the cup, they are going to dedicate it to West Africa and the pioneers of african football, the Black Stars? You must be dreaming! I’m telling you, the next day, you are going to develop, exactly the same feelings that you experience the last year, towards the Zambians. So much for the so called west african unity! At least, the Zambian players never tried to ridiculise and bully the opponent, the way the Ivorians have done, in recent times(it hapened, not often, but it hapened). And i’m not talking about the people of Cote d’Ivoire, i’m talking about their footballers. You forget about the 2010 group match between Ghana and CIV? You forget Tiene and Drogba, trying to butcher Essien? You forget Zokora, laughing at the young ghanaian players? You forget about their ironic smiles on the putch? The difference between your mentality and mine, is that i don’t seek to attribute my complaints towards the whole ivorian nation, whereas you do exactly that, towards the zambians. I bet that for you, the next day of a winning ivorian or nigerian or burkinabe side in 2013 AFCON, won’t be a day of west african unity. Once the new foe has taken shape, a new anathema will lie upon the ivorian, nigerian or burkinabe nation. Will it be of any value?

YOU HAVE TAKEN THE PAIN TO AIR YOUR VIEWS WITHOUT MAKING YOUR STANCE CLEAR THOUGH BUT WHAT I WANT TO RECAPITULATE HERE IS THAT IF THERE IS ANY ONE SHALLOW MINDED PERSON,IT WILL INTEREST YOU TO KNOW THAT ZAMBIANS ARE THAT MUCH.HOW COME WILL ALMOST ALL NATIONALS FROM ONE SINGLE COUNTRY DEVOTE SO MUCH OF THEIR TIME ON ANOTHER NATIONS SOCCER SITE ONLY TO WRITE ABUSIVE MESSAGES ALL BECAUSE YOU WON ONCE A NATIONS CUP? AND EVEN RECKLESS ON THAT?I HAVE SO MUCH FACTS TO BUTTRESS MY ARGUMENT IF ONLY YOU WILL OPEN-MINDED TO READ A LITTLE FAR STILL ON THIS WEBSITE TO FIND FORMER POST AND RELATED COMMENTS MADE BY YOUR FELLOW ZAMBIANS AND COME BACK TO DEFEND YOUR ASSERTION BY RECONSTRUCTING YOUR FINDINGS.WE ARE NOT BOYS,BUT WELL INFORMED CITIZENS OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA AND AS COMPATRIOTS AS WE ARE THAT WE WILL NEVER ALLOW ANYBODY WHO NO MATTER THEIR ORIGIN TO DISREPUTE US SARCASTICALLY .
ON WEST AFRICAN UNITY,IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN AND IF YOU ARE A WIDE READER,YOU WOULD FIND ON THIS SAME SITE THE PRE-TOURNAMENT COMMENTS YOUR COMPATRIOTS MADE CONCERNING WEST AFRICANS ,THAT SOUTH AFRICA WAS THEIR HOME AND THEY WILL NEVER ALLOW ANY WEST AFRICAN TEAM CROSSES THE GROUP STAGES OF THE COMPETITION.BESIDES,IF YOUR MEMORIES ARE TOO SHORT,I WANT YOU TO REMEMBER THAT IN SENEGAL 1992 GHANA AND IVORY COAST PLAYED THE FINAL WHERE IVORY COAST WERE THE WINNERS THROUGH PENALTIES BUT GHANA CONCEDED IN GOOD FAITH WHILE NO IVORIAN WROTE ANY OFFENSIVE WORDS IN ATTEMPT TO ANTAGONIZE GHANAIANS SINCE THEY ARE CIVILIZED AND REQUIRE OUR RESPECT AS WELL.THE SAME HAD IN MANY YEARS HAPPENED BETWEEN GHANA AND NIGERIA BEATING US AND WE BEATING THEM IN THIS BEAUTIFUL GAME WITHOUT ANY UNREASONABLE BUNCHES OF MISCONDUCT ON OUR SITE AS COMPARED TO THOSE NAIVE ZAMBIANS OF YOUR END.CAN YOU IN ANYWAY RECOLLECT WHEN IN A HISTORY GHANAIANS TROOPED TO YOUR NATIONAL SITES JUST TO MISCONDUCT THEMSELVES?I THINK IT WILL BE A RECONDITE ON YOUR PART SHOULD YOU SAY YES.YOU MENTIONED BULLYING ,THE PLAYERS OF GHANA ARE JUST MEN AS THOSE ZAMBIANS SO WON’T IT BE SO FUNNY TALKING ABOUT THIS?YES,THOUGH YOU ARE NOT ONE OF NONAGENARIAN IT MIGHT BE TOO SOON TO SAY YOU NEVER REMEMBER THE RECENT INCIDENT WHERE LAST YEAR IN ZAMBIANS NEWLY CONSTRUCTED STADIUM GHANA LOST TO ZAMBIA BY A LONE GOAL WHILE ZAMBIA SECURITY SUBJECTED GHANAIAN PLAYERS UNDER PUSHING AND BEATING .MOST ZAMBIANS ARE SEEN NONCOMPOSMENTIS FROM THEIR DICTION ON THIS SITE AND BEHAVIOR OUTSIDE.GHANAIANS WERE REALLY NONCHALANT IN THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE TILL MOST OF US GOT ANTAGONIZED BY THOSE ILL CONSTRUCTIONS FROM THOSE ZAMBIANS ,YOU KNOW WHY,BECAUSE GHANAIANS ARE PEACE LOVERS AND NONAGRESSIONS .I PERSONALLY HAVE A CLOSE ZAMBIAN FRIEND HERE IN ENGLAND.WE HAD OUR MASTERS TOGETHER .HE IS A VERY UPRIGHT GUY AND WOULD ALWAYS TELL US THAT”FOR THE STUPID BEHAVIOR OF MOST ZAMBIANS BACK HOME THAT HE AND HIS FAMILY NEVER WANTED TO LIVE IN ZAMBIA.
MAN,CHECK YOUR FACTS AND COME AGAIN FOR THE SCANTY FACTS YOU JUST WROTE NEVER HOLD WATER.HOWEVER,IF IN ANYWAY YOU WANT TO RECONCILE YOUR COUNTRY WITH GHANAIANS FOR THEIR ILL CONDUCTS,YOU’D BETTER ADVICE YOUR MEN.
NB;I PERSONALLY DON’T CARE WHICH WEST AFRICAN TEAM WINS THE CUP THOUGH I WILL BE HAPPY IF GHANA WINS IT AND THAT WILL NEVER GENERATE ANY UNHEALTHY DIFFERENCES BETWEEN US AS COMPARED TO THE SHARP ATTACKS FROM THOSE ZAMBIANS ON OUR OWN NATIONAL SITE.I AM SURE YOU HAVE BEEN WELL ENLIGHTENED READING THIS.GOD BLESS AFRICA,GOD BLESS WEST AFRICA AND GOD BLESS GHANA.

        • Gimli says:

Had you already read any of my thoughts i’ve recently posted on this site, you’d know by now, that i’m neither a ghanaian nor a zambian national. I come from another continent and i hapen to support the BS. You obviously haven’t read this comment of mine either. I simply said that putting generic labels on countries and nations, is incorrect and dangerous. All kinds of fanaticism, genocide and war is based on such a mentality. And a portion of schemer persons, who seek power in any cost, always practice such methods. I don’t endorse the mentality that you’ve described, depicted in intolerant and unfortunate comments, posted by some Zambians on this site. Why do you endorse that same behavior, derived by Ghanaians? Why do you expect people to believe that a whole nation, a whole country, is misguided, just because some stupid policeman didn’t do their job or a bunch of kids from that country, behaved in an erroneous manner on a foreign site. Not all Zambians misbehaved on this site and not all Ghanaians were gentlemen! Do you acknowledge that or you still think that the only zambian nationals that are civilised are the self exiled… who hapen to be your friends? It doesn’t make any sense to me! As for west african unity, YouTube is there. You can visit any link concerning Nigeria vs Cameroon, Ghana vs Nigeria, anglophone countries vs francophone countries etc and you’ll probably realise that there is more than meets the eye. And perception! Still, i insist that this kind of approach doesn’t apply to whole nations, whereas you claim exactly the opposite. Your approach is the most divisional, cos if tomorrow Nigeria wins the cup and a single Nigerian visits this site with the intention to mock Ghana and its football, you’ll eagerly stigmatize the whole nigerian nation of being preposterous and ill conducted. There is a fine line, when it comes to mass behavior. The way you approach it, you risk to extend an erroneous behavior, from the individual to the mass. That way, you’ll never have peace and unity, not in a west african scale, but inside your own home. The way i see it, i leave always room to tolerance. Tolerance isn’t a sign of weakness. It is the first step, in order to achieve internal piece and stability. Then, you can seek for unity and friendship in a greater scale and you’ll come to a point, that you’ll understand that there is no bad and good nations. Only bad and good people.
          Peace!

ghana dont insult football is the game of chance and lucky Zambians used to talk too much because they were defending champions so they funeral doest happen in one place even you can loose to football minown cape verde so wishing you good lucky in your next match i want you to win it because it has been 11 years since the cup was in west africa and also to silence that ivoiry coast mouth was mamadou gaye who thinks that Ghana will never win the afcon the 100yrs

  7. pulock says:

  8. henry says:

Zambia should not be suprised that is where you have always belonged a group stage team then you bow out of the tonament So don’t be suprised

  9. KAYS says:

At least Zambia won the Afcon with modern soccer..Ghana friends prove yourself by wining it on the field rather than insulting Zambians or you may just be too good for nothing for decades. As a Zambian am proud of my team Chipolopolo. we feel good when we beat quality teams like ivory coast, Ghana and senegal you know. Our coach made some blanders to rest captain when we needed him most. You can learn something bro.

    • TT says:

You haven’t learned your lesson, still comparing yourself to Ghana? Do not forget, it’s through Ghana you got that coach. Your arrogance stopped you from learning the secret of the game. From Hero To Zero.

  12. Chu says:

    I think its high time this website start blocking some Zambian comments be cause they refuse to post ours. Can somebody tell me what is wrong with this piece;

Look at them again. They started from 4-0 Ethiopia, 3-0 Nigeria, then 2-0 Burkina. They have started we shall be in Brazil 2014. Remember you are not even guaranteed a home win over Sudan let alone an away leg in Lesotho. Remember that the chipolopolo must strife to be at least a point above us because they might have to play a 9-1-1 formation against us to preserve a draw which they always do when they meet us. But don’t forget we shall do anything, just any to win that match and by not less than 2 goals. It can involve foul means, referee, or even intimidation. Trust this. And in case you don’t know, you may have to crash another plane on the brazilian coast or amazon for a quarter final appearance because this team is EUUUK. Africa is tired of world cup quarters and is ready to support Ghana and CIV not because of our pedigree but the humility of our players even at the higher stages and not a team that gets complacent after counterattacking football and luck winning matches

They overlooked this because they feel it is pain in their ill arses. So am appealling to Ghanasoccernet not to hesitate in blocking any piece of crap from a Rhodesian

  13. NOT LESS THAN A WIN says:

GHANA, NOW THAT WE YOUR STRONG BROTHERS (CHIPOLOPOLO) ARE RESTING. WE ARE BEHIND YOU GUYS. BEAT THEM ALL AND HAVE A CHANCE TO REPRESENT AFRICA AT THE CONFEDERATIONS CUP BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT GOING FOR THE 2014 WORLD CUP. OUR EXIT WAS JUST TO GIVE YOU A CHANCE TO BE IN BRASIL.

  14. selfmade says:

It ll take them another 100 yrs to win another fluke title again and ll advice them to learn from their neighbor’s south africa to switch to rugby as their seems to have enough bantu talent there!!! Football is not in their genes and they ll even win the rugby worldcup due to rugby genes in bantu peole!!! Hahaaahaaa!!! If u want to progress to the quarter finals it wouldn’t be at the expense of these mossi pple from burkina because they are very difficult to beat!!!!! I always said zambia is the greece of African football and they have vindicated me!!! They ll still not qualify for the worldcup because they are really poor and have no real talent except a few!!! They can even lose in Lesotho and one another thing is that though zambians erroneously believed that they are good in football, their coach thinks otherwise and even looked them upon based on his utterances!!! He is not a good coach and benefited hugely from bonnetti work!!! Viva the revolutionciiiiiiiooooooo!!!

  15. zambia is our toilet hole says:

OH ,THAT ZAMBIAN COACH WAS OUR SECONDHAND PHYSICAL TRAINER BUT HE IS SEEN AS A MAGICAL MAN FOR THE ZAMBIANS .HE MADE IT BIG AND WILL NEVER CHANGE HIS WHITE SHIRT SO THAT ZAMBIANS WILL BE JEALOUS OF HIM.HE BEHAVES JUST AS THE VULTURE ..IT NEVER EATS CLEAN FOOD SO THAT THE HUNTER BECOMES INTERESTED IN HIM.THEY ARE STILL DREAMING OF COMING TO PLAY THE BLACK STARS IN KUMASI,,,,JUST WAIT AND THEIR AGONY WILL EVER REMAIN WITH THEM.THEY ARE LOSERS AND I DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THEM.ZAMBIA MY FOOT.

  16. Afcon is bringing all africans together and celebarting our brotherhood thru soccer. So pliz lets stop insulting each other. If It was Ghana or any african nation at world cup , belive me all africans would rally behind the team.

    Ghana Behold

Khuruma was a great man of Africa, so is Dr Kaunda. Never did dey trade insults to gain recognition or who was greater than the other or who got independent first. Civility in politics and football alike is cardinal to our African unity.Zambians are peaceful and a wonderful people. We are driven and motivated by the spirit of God. Football is jst a game with the rule of win or lose. In Christ our Lord, we are all winners and in the hands of the devil we are all losers.Ghanians repeant from insults and turn to your creator for wisdom. May the good Lord bless the great nation of Ghana.

  18. GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

  19. Chipolopolo says:

ITS LIKE GHANA HAS WON THE AFCON HEH? LOL Ghana reserve your insults till you win the cup.

We won it just last year and you cant change that. if we were lucky and won it, why cant you be lucky?

  20. GHANAMAN says:

LETS JUST ADMIT, OUR TEAM CAN”T BEAT ZAMBIA, THEY ARE MORE ORGANISED AT THE BACK ,THEY CONTAINED GHANA AND IVORY COAST. THEY DESERVED THE CUP. HOPE OUR BALCK STARS CAN LEARN FROM THEM
