Zambia coach in fresh Ghana attack - 'Black Stars recall best players because of us'

Posted On Tuesday, 30th July 2013
Zambia coach Herve Renard says the decision by Ghana to recall some of the country's best players to the Black Stars is because they are aware of the threat his team poses ahead of the crucial Group D World Cup qualifier in September.

Zambia coach Herve Renard says the decision by Ghana to recall some of the country’s best players to the Black Stars is because they are aware of the threat his team poses ahead of the crucial Group D World Cup qualifier in September.

In his latest batch of mind games ahead of the clash in Kumasi, the Frenchman said it was clear that Ghana wants to assemble its best team because they knew how strong Zambia was.

The Ghana FA has asked some of the country’s key players like Kevin Prince Boateng and Michael Essien to return to the fold while the country’s President met Andre and Jordan Ayew to ask them to make themselves available for the national team.

Since Ghana took over the leadership of Group D of the World Cup qualifiers the Zambia coach, who is a former physical trainer of the Black Stars, has embarked on mind games.

The decision to recall some of the Black Stars top players has resulted in his latest mind games insisting they have beaten the Ghanaians two times in a row.

But Zambia have badly struggled in the World Cup qualifiers and they are second in the group even though FIFA gave them three free boardroom points over a protest which means Ghana would have already qualified by now if Zambia were not given the protest points after Sudan soundly beat them.

Despite their worrying statistics for the Chipolopolo, their coach is clutching forward with his bale forecasts.

“They have to call their best team because they know it won’t be easy to beat the Zambia national team. The last two games they played against us they lost, so maybe the first time they were surprised but the second time they said, ‘not anymore’,” Renard said.

“So we know they want the best team for the Black Stars but we also put the best team we can have in this country to make the game very tough. I’m sure everyone is waiting for this game, but for us, we will be ready for the game, which is a very tough international game.

“This is what we like. When there is no pressure, there is no football. No pressure is for madala.”

Zambia needs to win the match to go through to the final round of the World Cup qualifiers, while group leaders Ghana only need a draw.

  10. This is a message from Noni to FIFA/CAF or whoever it may concern. Pls you guys should ensure that proper and adequate security is beefed up during the game between Ghana vs Zambia cos i see these gaynaian people attacking and fighting the Zambian team and fans after the game. My eyes were opened and i saw a 1 – 0 spanking. It was Mulenga that got the goal after a through pass from Kris Katongo. Immediately after the game, i saw Ghana flag being flown at half mast. I’m sorry Ghana, you guys are not going to the world cup. I’m sorry.

  11. THE CONCERNED GHAIAN says:

  16. kuukuphilly says:

We can win the game with under 20 team.

  17. You people can insult me for all i care. If it was Ghana i saw winning on that day i would have said it. I saw an inscription “DOOMS DAY/BLACK FRIDAY for BLACK STARS”. I immediately asked myself what’s gonna happen on that day and my eyes were open and i saw how Ghana’s dream of making it through to the last round of qualification was ended by a country in the south. Immediately Zambia flag appeared and i woke up… May Zambia’s dream come trueeee. I rest my base. Pls look for a place and put it down. It will come to pass. 1nil–> heart breaking goal from Mulenga.

  18. GH Panther says:

renard is really lost. rather than play ur underdog role and pull a surprise on a complacent ghana, u are here loud mouthing and big talking putting ghana on alert. i don’t see the sense in ur playing mind games. perhaps u are jux turning a marginal, respectable defeat to a potentially humiliating one.

    • milky says:

I agree with you bro but I dont think Ghana is complacent. I really like that Ghana’s coach is not really saying anything. Lets all wait till the game is played and we will know who will continue talking and bragging.

  19. Collynzo says:

@Noni, I hope we won’t meet Zambia at the next round, I don’t want us to knock them out. The deserve to be in Brazil after eliminating Gayna.

  21. Watch Over says:

Herve these mind games are so dry aren’t taking us anywhere!

    • Kenny says:

It’s not a mind game, the man is scared as the time approaches by the minute.
He may even resign before the date, or resign immediately after the match. He knows Zambia would need basket to collect the balls from the net.
A different Black Stars, hungry and angry to trash the Zambians.
Most of the Zambia fans who parade GSN are not going to show at Kumasi, why? because they are also scared.

  22. Blakroze GH says:

@collynzo, I hope we meet Malawi, they don’t deserve to go to the World cup even after beating you, we will again teach you nigayrians how to beat your opponents….

  23. G.H 1 says:

We can play and joke with anytin not the world cup, noni and his zambian family can keep dreaming, to us that match is no match becos zambia is no team beside a world cup crazy Ghana, we are unstoppable. 3 or 5, choose one!

  44. Colynzo you are right. It will be so unfair for Nigeria to knockout Zambia in the final phase of qualification cos the Zambians’ve done so well eliminating the black stars of Gayna and setting up a three days national mourning… You know what? I’ll go to my secret place and pray Zambia escapes Nigeria. We love Zambians alot. I’ll prefer the Ivorians. They are our customers now. That might be true but think about it this way, if Nigeria had a safe country, good economy, spending middle class and an economy that has a future, all the Nigerians would be investing in Nigeria’s economy instead of Ghana. Nigeria’s economy is pretty shaky and Ghana’s is very promising and that’s why smart investors (including Nigerians) will investing in Ghana. People need to think about the big picture and learn a little about economies when making such statements.

GHANA, The best football nation in Africa, the hope of Africa, the star of Africa and the gateway to Africa! They all want to know what makes us so GREAT, as for zambia, we will show them that we are the gateway to AFRICA!

  54. zed says:

ghanian players are talented but dull that’s why it’s difficult for them to beat the clever chipolopolo team. Ghana 1vs 2 zambia. Black friday indeed.

  55. Proud Zambian says:

It’s amazing how Gana people like jumping like demons at nothing. First you create a story, then second you dance to it… it is called being artistic I applaud you all needles I say a lot of Rubbish for nothing and be levelled with some stone aged people here, let me keep quiet and wait for September. To my beloved Nigerian brothers indeed let us not meet in the play offs.

  56. GH Panther says:

hahaha. these insults used to be distracting, they still are. but these days, for some weird reason, i find it hilarious watching people go at each other here. eg. ghanaman,no disrespect but its so funny when u go at dem. sumtyms, i jux sit back and observe, its like a comedy show. i gave up hope for a civilized, matured and factual conversation a long time ago esp when some nigerians in particular keep provoking ghanaians. and oh,@mania u sound like a kid. if u are, get off this site, its not healthy.

  57. G.H 1… I can see how foolish you are. If Ghana is a home for all then what is Ghana’s ex goal keeper KINGSTON doing in Nigeria(TB JOSHUA’S church to be precised). I saw him last yr at the synagogue church of all nation in lagos with his wife. Mehn, that dude was so unkept with his rubber slippers and a faded gean. Hahaha. What is your bleached faced president doing every now and then in Nigeria? Coming to beg for gas as usual. Hahahahahaha. Oh Nigeria! The home of opportunities! Oh Nigeria! The home of refugees! Oh Nigeria! Africa’s pride… Oh Nigeria! The land where swagz abound… Oh Nigeria! The land of beautiful gals and handsome dudes… Oh Nigeria my country! I love you…. (y)

  58. Africa’s best my ass.ghana has been getting certificate of participation for the last 2 AFCON editions.they couldnt even afford a bronze.for the record,JONATHAN PITROIPA alone can beat 11 best ghanians 3-0.
