Zambia coach relishing another AFCON battle against Ghana

Zambia coach Herve Renard hopes to meet Ghana at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations to enhance his team’s chances of progression.

Playing against the Chipolopolo have been unfavourable for the Black Stars in recent games.

Ghana has lost twice in the last two games between the sides – first at the semi final stage of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations and then in the preliminary 2014 World Cup qualifier.

And Zambia’s French trainer who was once an assistant coach of the Black Stars wants another rematch fully convinced his side will reign supreme again.

“At the moment there is the African Cup of Nations and I hope once again to meet again Ghana because it will mean we will go far,” he told MTNFootball.com.

Renard however admits subsequent games between the sides will only get tougher especially with the return encounter of the World Cup qualifier to be played in Ghana.

“It will be more difficult (playing Ghana) because the next game (2014 World Cup qualifier) will be in Ghana,” he adds.

“That means we just have to be strong. We know it will be very difficult to play in Ghana especially with this last game going to be very important.”

The African champions in Group C are unlikely to meet Ghana housed in Group B until the grand finale if both teams manage to make it that far in South Africa.
