Zambia coach vows to dash Ghana World Cup hopes thanks to protest points

Zambia coach Herve Renard has vowed to use their advantage from the points they gained from their protest against Sudan to ensure they edge past Ghana to qualify for the 2014 World Cup.

The Frenchman is delighted that his side have been given three free points that gives them some leverage over the Black Stars in the qualifiers for the tournament in Brazil.

Zambia are armed with six points heading into their 2014 qualifier away game in Lesotho this month.

The Chipolopolo travel to Maseru on 24 March with an extra three points after Sudan lost its appeal against docked points for using an ineligible player in their Group D opener on June 2, 2012.

"It is good news," Renard told MTNFootball.com when asked about his reaction to the Court of Arbitration in Sport verdict on Monday.

"But there's still a lot of work to do and to go in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers."

Zambia lost 2-0 to Sudan in their Group D opener last June in Khartoum in a match the hosts fielded defender Saif Ali who was still serving a suspension from the 2012 AFCON.

Meanwhile, Zambia now lead Group D on six points usurping Sudan who previously led on four points but tumble to third.

Ghana are second on three points while Lesotho are bottom on one point heading in the third round of Group D fixtures in a fortnights time.
