Isaac Chansa

Zambia, Ghana's opponents in Group D of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, have named a crack squad for next month's 2014 qualifiers against Lesotho and Sudan dropping key player Isaac Chansa for lack of match fitness.

Frenchman Herve Renard left out the former Orlando Pirates player from his 25-member team unveiled on May 27 at Football House in Lusaka for the June 8 and 15 games against Lesotho and Sudan respectively.

But several players who have been flops at DR Congo side TP Mazembe including Nathan Sinkala and Rainford Kalaba were named in the team.

Chansa has only recently returned to competitive League action since leaving Chinese club Henan Jianye at the end of 2012.

"Isaac has not been called for the June assignment," Football Association of Zambia spokesperson Erick Mwanza said.

"He has not been called largely because he has not played any League action from November last year."

Chansa this month signed a short-term deal with Zambian League champions Zanaco whom he has been training with since returning from the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

This is the second time Renard has dropped Chansa after cutting him from the 2010 World Cup Group C qualifier against Egypt in March 2009
