A double second-half strike from Samuel Norgbey and Charles Oppong handed Brong Ahafo United an all-important 2-0 victory over regional rivals Berekum Arsenal in the Zone 1B Play-Offs on Sunday afternoon at the Robert Mensah Stadium.

A Norgbey 77th minute penalty gave B/A United the lead before Oppong cushioned the lead for the Sunyani-based side in the 83rd and send them top of the section.

The Robert Mensah Stadium offered a perfect platform for United and Arsenal to resume their regional rivalry away from home but the maximum points available for grasp soared their impetus.

United, who have the former Ghana international defender - Frimpong Manso, issuing instructions from the dug-out showed a lot of discipline and brilliance with Ghana U20 attacking midfielder Patrick Asmer and Gideon Awuni dazzling in the middle.

But their over-aggression in midfield fetched them the first booking of the match. Anokye Badu went into a flying tackle on Arsenal's Osei and Daniel Laryea - the center referee rushed over to prevent a possible confrontation before flashing a card to the young defensive midfielder.

Arsenal occasionally came into the game with  Emmanuel Osei coming close on three occasions within the opening quarter of an hour. First first attempt came from a sole move which saw him traverse the United back-line but his innocuous hit was coolly collected by Osei Collins.

United nearly claimed the lead five minutes before the break. The slippery Patrick Asmer created space for himself in the middle before blitzing a darting drive which was blocked off the line.

After break, both sides tried to impose themselves on the game but none of them could take the lead until the 77th minute when United won a penalty. Fred Paintsil skirted in the Arsenal area, successfully beat his markers but was fouled inside the box.

Referee Laryea pointed to the spot. In a bid to ease the mounting tension his side, Frimpong Manso infected a change and when things settled, Norgbey Samuel stepped up and fired home for the opener.

Johnson Kyere fed a ball to Charles Oppong and he stormed off to slam the ball past the Arsenal keeper for the second goal.
