13th African Games: President Akufo Addo to inaugurate Borteyman Sports Complex as trials loom, says LOC Chairman Dr. Ofosu Asare

Preparations for the highly anticipated 13th African Games are in full swing as President Akufo Addo is set to inaugurate the Borteyman Sports Complex, announced Dr. Ofosu Asare, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC).

With just weeks remaining until the games kick off on March 8th, the commissioning of this state-of-the-art facility marks a significant milestone in Ghana's readiness to host the continent's premier sporting event.

Following the inauguration, the complex will undergo trials by various disciplines including swimming, tennis, and volleyball, as confirmed by Dr. Asare.

Notably, the facility's versatility positions it to potentially host international games post the African Games. Moreover, the 13th edition of the African Games holds added significance as an official qualifier for the XXXIII Olympic Games Paris 2024, further amplifying the excitement surrounding the upcoming event.

"Today we will thank God first the facility and the entire facility has been constructed very beautiful so this morning the President will come and commission the facilities," he told Peace FM as monitored by Footballghana.com

"Then we will do some trials in some of the disciplines like swimming pool, tennis, and volleyball we will play some games to demonstrate and test the facilities.

"This will all help the infrastructure deficiency in some of these disciplines, especially swimming and others thankfully going forward after the games we can host international competitions,"

Black Satellites and Black Princesses will represent Ghana in football at the African Games. The Black Princesses of Ghana are in Group A alongside Tanzania, Uganda, and Ethiopia.

The Black Satellites are in Group A with Benin, Congo, and Gambia.

The African Games will end on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
