Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is expected to be fit to face Portugal in his side's World Cup opener on Monday.

The 28-year-old participated in a full training session on Wednesday for the first time since turning out for Bayern Munich in the DFB-Pokal final in May after being sidelined by a shoulder injury.

However, despite this layoff, Germany goalkeeper coach Andreas Kopke is confident that Neuer will be ready to take his spot between the posts come Monday.

"Manuel's going to train fully today so that he can get a feel for his shoulder," Kopke said at a press conference on Monday.

"Things are going in the right direction for him. Manuel is experienced enough and we're constantly discussing how his shoulder feels.

"It's not the case that he doesn't have faith in it. Manuel is fully fit."

Germany find themselves pooled with Portugal, Ghana and the USA in the challenging Group G.
