Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan believes the team has fully recovered from its disappointing defeat to the USA in the opening group game at the 2014 World Cup.

Goals from Clint Dempsey and John Brooks saw the Black Stars get their third successive campaign at the finals to a crashing start last Monday in Natal.

Olympique Marseille star Andre Ayew scored only the consolation for Ghana as USA exacted revenge on their previous two defeats to the African giants at the World Cup.

The defeat leaves Ghana in desperate search of a win against Germany in their next group game in order to return into contention for a progressive slot in Group G.

The Black Stars team returned to training on Tuesday in buoyant mood as they plot a famous win over Germany on Saturday.

Gyan believes the defeat to the USA have been buried in history as the team forges ahead to get the all-important win against the three-time winners.

"We were a bit down after the game against USA but you saw in training that everyone was smiling," he said.

"So we have put it behind us and we’re now focusing on winning against Germany."

The Black Stars will continue with their preparations in Maceio until Friday when they fly out to Fortaleza to face Germany on Saturday.
