2014 World Cup: Ghana defender Awal Mohammed not bothered by Kwesi Appiah's snub in South Africa

Ghana defender Awal Mohammed insists he is not troubled by the inability of coach Kwesi Appiah to monitor him during his time in South Africa.

The Black Stars trainer is still in South Africa to check on his squad hopefuls for the 2014 World Cup.

Appiah was in the stands to see Rashid Sumaila play over the weekend.

He followed it up with a visit to Sumaila and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Fatau Dauda.

Kwesi Appiah was however unable to travel to see Awal Mohammed in action for Maritzburg United ahead of his return to Ghana on Wednesday.

His limited visits to Ghanaian players is being interpreted as hints towards the players he will be naming in his squad for June's tournament in Brazil.

The ex Asante Kotoko defender however says he is not worried by Appiah’s perceived neglect having been engaged in a telephone conversation with the Black Stars coach.

“The coach took my number and spoke to me but he was unable to visit me,” Awal told Happy FM.

“South Africa is a big country and I don’t expect the coach to travel to all areas just because he is in the country.

“But he spoke to me and I am happy with that.”

Kwesi Appiah will be finalizing his provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup on his return to Ghana.
