Ghana’s 2014 World Cup scout Mas-Ud Dramani admits the injury to defender Jerry Akaminko is serving a big blow to the Black Stars team.

The Turkish-based defender was ruled out of the tournament in Brazil having suffered an ankle injury in the friendly defeat to the Netherlands last Saturday.

Akaminko landed awkwardly after going in for an aerial challenge to suffer a broken fibula in his left ankle and will now surgery to fix the problem.

The 26-year-old is expected to be out for at least three months – crashing his hopes of playing at his first World Cup finals in the process.

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has now been forced to make do with just six defenders in his final squad for the tournament that kicks off on June 12.

One of Appiah’s scout Mas-Ud Dramani admits Akaninko’s exclusion is posing a problem for the coach and the team.

“It is a blow to the entire playing body because once the ream have been so united, it becomes difficult when one falls out due to injury,” Dramani, who is coach of Asante Kotoko said.

“It is a blow to the coach and to the player himself but he needs to be assured that all is not lost.

“That he will return strongly.”

Akaminko is currently in Miami where he is supposed to have his surgery.
