Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has enter a hot race to acquire Ghana star winger Andre Ayew from French side Olympique Marseille, according to reports in the British media.

The Merseysiders scouted the 24-year-old two seasons ago and will make a move for him after the 2014 World Cup.

The Anfield side are set for a return to Europe next season with Uefa Champions League football in the offing and manager Rodgers is keen on the attacker who has scored two goals at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Ayew, a son of African football legend Abedi Pele, has also emerged as target for Italian side Napoli with manager Rafael Benitez set to ask the club to make an improved bid.

But the player who scored 6 times in 25 Ligue 1 appearances has admitted his admiration for a move to the English Premier League and is likely to consider a move to England.
