2014 World Cup: Swedish legend Ibrahimovic beats Ghana hit-man Majeed Waris to top French award
Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris narrowly missed out on the French Ligue 1 player of the month of March to Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.Â
The 22-year-old was highly tipped to pip the Swedish international to the award after scoring four goals in March but he surprisingly missed out on it.
Ibrahimovic, who won majority of the votes cast by followers of the Ligue 1, scored three goals in the month but he surprisingly beat the Black Stars striker to the award.
However the on-loan Spartak Moscow striker finished ahead of Ola Toivonen.
This is the second time Waris has lost on an award to Ibrahimovic as the former AC Milan striker beat him to the Swedish footballer of the year away
