2018 World Cup Qualifier: Probable Ghana XI to face Uganda on Saturday

Published on: 06 October 2017

Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah could be compelled to hand starting roles to two debutants in the game against Uganda on Saturday following several omissions from his squad due to injury.

Switzerland-based defender Kassim Nuhu and Sweden-based winger Kingsley Sarfo could be handed starting roles in Saturday's clash.

With the absence of Jonathan Mensah and John Boye from the squad, the Young Boys defender, Nuhu, is likely to partner Daniel Amartey in the heart of defence while Daniel Opare makes a start in the team for the first time in three years.

The absence of Christian Atsu and Thomas Agyepong could also see Malmo FF left-footed midfielder Kingsley Sarfo grabbing his debut start with the Black Stars.

Give of the players who started for Ghana in their 5-1 win over Congo in Brazaville - Jonathan Mensah, Harrison Afful, Thomas Agyepong, Christian Atsu and Afriyie Acquah have all been ruled out of the game due to injury while skipper Asamoah Gyan pulling out of the game at the eleventh hour with Andre Ayew not getting a call up at all.

Maritzburg United goalkeeper Richard Ofori looks set to start in post for Ghana with a back-four of Opare, Lumor, Kassim and Amartey.

Joseph Attamah Larweh is likely to start in his favourite holding midfield role in a midfield partnership with Ebenezer Ofori, Thomas Partey and debutant Kingsley Sarfo.

Ghana's current top attackers Richmond Boakye Yiadom and Raphael Dwamena will lead a dreadful Black Stars attack on Saturday.

Below is Ghana's Probable Starting XI:

Richard Ofori Daniel Opare Lumor Agbenyenu Kassim Nuhu Daniel Amartey Attamah Larweh Thomas Partey Ebenezer Ofori Frank Acheampong Kingsley Sarfo Raphael Dwamena Boakye Yiadom
