2019/20 Ghana Premier League: Week 15 Match Preview - Karela United FC vs. AshantiGold SC

Published on: 14 March 2020

Karela United FC have gone drought for about two months now. Their last league win was on 31 January 2020 against Legon Cities FC at home.

The Pride and Passion lads would want to end their winless streak on Sunday when they welcome AshantiGold SC to the Tarkwa Akoon park.

Enos Kwame Adipah and his men have been able to pick only three points from the last premiership fixtures as they languish at the 17th position.

Karela United are five points adrift of the safety places and a win over the Miners on Sunday will cushion them in their push for survival.

Coming from the back of a goalless draw at Dawu against Dreams FC in the midweek, at least they have gained a little confidence for this fixture.

All players are available for selection on Sunday. First choice goalie Isaac Hagan returned to the sticks last Wednesday after he was benched in the Asante Kotoko game.

AshantiGold SC had their recent predicament compounded in a 1-0 loss to Bechem United at the Len Clay stadium on Wednesday.

That was a third straight league game without a victory. The other two results are a 6-1 defeat to WAFA SC and a 0-0 draw with Aduana Stars.

The Miners are currently sitting at the 5th position on the league standings with five points away from the top spot.

The gap could extend to eight if they fail to record a win in Tarkwa on Sunday.

Central defender Mubarik Yussif is making a return to the squad for the trip to the Western region. He was suspended against Bechem United in the midweek.

AshantiGold were losers in their first visit to the Akoon park this campaign. They lost 1-0 Medeama SC.

Mark Agyekum and Amos Addai have still not recovered from their respective injuries which rule them out of Sunday's fixture.

Prediction: Karela United FC 1-1 AshantiGold SC
