Elmina Sharks and Great Olympics shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Ndoum Stadium on Match day 5 of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season.

Great Olympics have been a thorn in the flesh of Sharks in the top-flight after collecting four points from the hosts during the 2017 campaign.

Sharks and Olympics went into the match brimming with confidence following their respective wins against Inter Allies and Karela United FC in Week 4.

Expectedly, both sides cancelled themselves out in the opening period of the match but failed to change the score line.

However, Sharks broke the deadlock in the 27th minute through Benjamin Boateng. The forward’s weak free-kick on the edge of the box beat Olympics goalkeeper Ernest Sowah.

Great Olympics showed great determination in the early period of the second half by threatening the hosts’ goal area but could not find the equalizer.

The visitors’ persistent pressure paid off in the 81st minute as they grabbed the leveler through Mohammed Sulley.

The result took Sharks to 11th with 6 points, while Olympics moved to 13th with 4 points.
