İstanbul Başakşehir defender Joseph Attamah Larweh has expressed delight in making the final 23-man squad for the Black Stars for AFCON 2019.

The versatile defender was named in coach Kwesi Appiah's final 23-man squad for the competition later this month, after a week of intensive exercise in the United Arab Emirates.

Five players were dropped including New York FC's Ebenezer Ofori, Numancia's Yaw Yeboah and locally based duo Fatawu Safiu and Mohammed Alhassan.

" Thanks to the almighty God for giving me this opportunity to represent my country in this years. AFCON 2019. GO GHANA," he posted on Social Media.

The Black Stars will continue with their training in Dubai, where they are scheduled to play South Africa in a pre-AFCON friendly.

The team will then leave for Egypt in June 20, a day before the start of the tournament.

Ghana has been drawn in group F alongside Cameroon, Guinea Bissau and Benin.
