2020/2021 Ghana Premier League: Week 32 Match Report - Asante Kotoko 1-1 King Faisal Babes

Asante Kotoko SC couldn't take advantage of their home ground in their match-week 32 encounter against King Faisal Babes on Saturday at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.

Kotoko came from a goal down to draw with Faisal 1-1 with a very late strike.

Kotoko head coach Mariano Barreto Jeronimo made three changes to the squad that lost 1-0 to Hearts of Oak in the Super Clash last week at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Injured duo Christopher Nakai Nettey and Habib Mohammed made way for Samuel Frimpong and Augustine Okrah in the starting lineup respectively.

Patrick Asmah was also replaced by Ibrahim Imoro at the left fullback position for the Porcupines.

Faisal trainer Nurudeen Amadu made just one alteration to the team that beat Legon Cities FC 2-0 at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman last Monday.

Frimpong Boateng was brought into the starting lineup to replace the suspended Kwadwo Frimpong.

Former Ghana U20 star Seidu Salifu was handed his 10th consecutive start in the Green shirt while Danlad Ibrahim was between the sticks to face his parent club.

Faisal opened the scoring of the match in the 15th minute after Zubairu Ibrahim connected a cross from the Enoch Morrison on the right.

Morrison came very close to getting the second goal for the visitors but an effort from the edge of the box missed the posts by a whisker in the 60th minute.

Kwame Peprah nearly doubled the advantage for Faisal but his shot struck the woodwork after rounding goalkeeper Kwame Baah leaving an empty net ten minutes later.

Substitute Francis Andy Kumi levelled matters for the Porcupine Warriors with a header from close range in the 84th minute following a tussle in the Faisal box.

The 'Insha Allah Boys' came so close to getting the match winner in the dying embers of the game but a crucial save by goalkeeper Baah and the framework denied them the victory.

Kotoko will be hosting second-tier Asokwa Deportivo in the FA Cup round of 16 at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi on Wednesday.

Faisal will wait for next weekend to take on Ebusua Dwarfs in the next round of the league.
