2020/21 Ghana Premier League: Match Preview - Medeama vs Dreams FC

Published on: 11 April 2021

Medeama will be desperate to return to winning ways when they host Dreams FC in a crunch tie at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa on Sunday.

The two teams go at each other in what is expected to be an entertaining clash in the Ghanaian mining town.

Medeama will be anxious for oxygen after their narrow 1-0 defeat at league leaders Great Olympics last week.

Dreams FC are also in search of their first win in three games after their latest 1-1 stalemate against struggling Inter Allies at  the Theatre of Dreams.

Medeama welcome first-choice goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi back into the team after he picked up a shoulder injury in the side's defeat in the capital.

Coach Yaw Preko has named an 18-man squad for the fixture, naming highly-rated centre-back Baba Abdulai in the squad.

He is expected to partner with Ali Ouattara with Vincent Atingah expected to drop to the bench.

Winger Zakaria Mumuni is fit after he suffered a bout of malaria which affected his debut against the Wonder Club.

There are also places for midfielders Justice Blay, Rashid Nortey, Richard Boadu while Agyei Boakye and Eric Kwakwa return to the squad for the first time since the start of the second half of the campaign.

Prince Opoku Agyemang- who endured a quite time in the defeat against Great Olympics is expected to partner AAmed Toure.

However, Samuel Appiah is still absent and has been replaced by Yaro Ibrahim.

Dreams FC Serbian coach  Vladislav Viric took charge and went seven matches without defeat.

However, a home defeat to Great Olympics and a draw against Inter Allies means an extra energy is required to upset Medeama at their own backyard.

Both teams are tied on same points with 27 but Dreams have a superior goal difference.

Dreams made two signings during the mid-season transfer window with the registration of Osman Papa Yakubu, Asafo Abednego, Sadat Mohammed, Sylvester Siba and Mohammed Jiji Alifoe.

The club's leading scorer Joseph Esso with 11 goals is available for selection despite signing a pre-contract with Algerian side  MC Algiers.
