Asante Kotoko clinch their first win of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season against Legon Cities on match day five.
Osman Ibrahim scored the only goal of the game to hand the Porcupine Warriors the three maximum points at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.
Asante Kotoko prior to the game had picked two points in their first two games against Eleven Wonders and Berekum Chelsea.
The Porcupine Warriors started the game with more intent at scoring and broke the deadlock just in the 10th minute as Osman Ibrahim latched onto a cross from Patrick Asmah.
Ghana's all-time leading top scorer Asamoah Gyan came on a substitute in the 59th minute of the second half.
He was handed the captain's armband by goalkeeper Fatau Dauda
Gyan’s first chance on target came in the 75th minute from a free kick which went straight into the gloves of Kwame Baah.
Legon Cities failed to break pass the defense of Asante Kotoko in search of the equalizer as the game ended 1-0 after regulation time.
The Royals are still without a win in the ongoing campaign after match day five. Coach Bashiru Hayford was also handed a defeat on his debut for the club.
