The Chief Executive Officer for Techiman Eleven Wonders, Albert Commey has commended the Ghana FA for the increase in prize money for the upcoming Ghana Premier League.

The Ghana FA announced the cash prizes for this year’s league during the launch of the 2020/21 Football season on Thursday.

The winner of the 2020/21 season takes home GHC 250,000 plus 40 gold medals and some groceries from Melcom.

The runner up will also pocket GHC 150,000 plus 40 silver medals and the third-placed team takes home GHC 80,000 plus 40 bronze medals.

The cash prize for this season’s league has seen an improvement from the previous year which according to Albert Commey, must be commended.

He stated that the prize money will make the teams competitive and Eleven Wonders are targeting the league title this season.

“It is very enough because if you compare the money it’s an increase from the previous season”, he said in an interview.

“This money will help the clubs and also bring other benefits when they win the league. The prize money is very attractive to the clubs. It will urge the clubs to perform very well.

Looking at the difference between the first and second it’s good enough for the clubs which also make them competitive”.

He also mentioned that the other packages announced by the GFA such as sending the coach of the league winner or international attachment will also help to build the capacities of the coaches which will inevitably improve the standard of the league.

“The other packages for the club such as taking the coaches abroad are good incentives that will also help because it will build the capacity of the coaches”.

“We are ever ready for the league, we know we are underdogs. We are going to fight for a top-three finish in this season’s league”, he added.

Eleven Wonders will begin their league campaign against Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium.
