2020/21 Ghana Premier League: Week 2 Match Preview – Berekum Chelsea vs Asante Kotoko

Published on: 20 November 2020

Amid their disagreement with the Ghana Football Association, Asante Kotoko will travel to Berekum, hoping to secure their first win of the season against Chelsea.

The Porcupine Warriors made a disappointing start, dropping points in their first home match. Kotoko failed to beat the less fancied Techiman Eleven Wonders at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The match finished 1-1 but it could have been a different result had the Techiman club been clinical upfront because Kotoko were lethargic.

Maxwell Konadu, in the post-match interview, admitted they were not at their best and needed to improve in this weekend clash against Berekum Chelsea.

"I urge my supporters to keep calm; we will play much better than what we saw today. We have a couple of injuries in camp and that is why we couldn’t bring on board everybody,” he said.

“We are managing the situation but those who played today did their best even though we know is just not enough but in the coming games we will make sure that we play much better."

Kotoko’s opponent, Berekum Chelsea also drew 1-1. But theirs came away from home against Legon Cities. All two games in the game were penalties with Chelsea scoring first.

Chelsea will hope to make a winning start at home which sets up a cagey encounter at the Golden City Park on Sunday.

Kotoko haven’t enjoyed much success in their previous trips to Berekum. In the last 10 meetings, the Porcupine Warriors have picked just two wins but have lost three times with five ending in stalemates.

Prediction: Berekum Chelsea 1-1 Asante Kotoko
