2020/21 Ghana Premier League: Week 28 Match Preview - Legon Cities vs. Inter Allies

Published on: 07 June 2021

Legon Cities FC are currently enjoying their best moments this season after managing four wins out of their last five matches in all competitions.

They hope to continue the run on Monday when they tackle regional rivals Inter Allies FC at the Accra Sports Stadium in a matchday 28 encounter.

The Royals are on a three-game winning streak following a 2-1 victory over second-tier Uncle T FC in the FA Cup last Thursday.

Cities' last league game saw them defy the odds to beat AshantiGold SC 1-0 in Obuasi to move up on the league log.

Bashir Hayford's side are lying 9th on the league standings and are still not far from the relegation dogfight as they are only six points above the drop zone.

Cities will have to battle with Allies in the city derby without reliable defender Joseph Adjei who is at the national team camp for upcoming international friendlies.

Youngster Mathew Anim Cudjoe is expected back in the team to face Allies on Sunday.

He missed the trip to Obuasi last weekend due to a slight injury.

Allies are still rocking bottom of the Ghana Premier League table and continue the fight to avoid relegation at the end of the season.

The "Eleven Is To One" side got themselves some believe and a booster in the relegation dogfight when they smashed Medeama SC 3-0 at the Dawu park last weekend.

Allies are now four points away from the safety places and a victory over Cities on Sunday will be massive in their survival fight.

They go into this fixture on the back of a humiliating 5-1 defeat against second-tier Tema Youth FC at the Tema stadium last Wednesday.

Coach Felix Aboagye is expected to make as many changes to the squad that suffered the embarrassment in the Cup game in the midweek.

Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Richmond Nii Lamptey, Nafiu Sulemana, Paul Abanga and goalkeeper Rashid Seidu are all returning for this game.
