2020/21 Ghana Premier League: Week 29 Match Report — Aduana Stars 2-0 Liberty Professionals

Published on: 13 June 2021

Aduana Stars end their three-game winless streak with a 2-0 victory over Liberty Professionals on matchday 29 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

The Fire Boys went into the game under severe pressure to rescue their season after failing to win any of their last three matches.

Asare Bediako’s men silenced the doubters following a well deserved 17th minute strike by Sam Adams.

The hosts kept their determination in the opening half of the second half.

Liberty had their moments midway through the half but it wasn’t enough to draw them level.

The visitors’ efforts to get back into the game was thwarted in the 55th minute, after referee Clement Nkuah awarded Aduana Stars a spot kick.

The ball was adjudged to have hit the trailing arm of Liberty defender Samuel Amofa.

Bright Adjei stepped up to bury the resultant penalty.

Aduana got hold of the game from there on which ensured Liberty to return to Dansoman empty-handed.

The result has pushed Aduana Stars to 7th with 43 points while Liberty remain 15th with 32 points from 29 matches.
