Published on: 17 January 2021

Karela United have moved to the summit of the Ghana Premier League table following an impressive 4-1 victory against Berekum Chelsea on Sunday.

Karela completely overpowered the Blues at the Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) Park in Aiyinase to secure the important victory.

It is their fifth successive home win. They have won every point at home so far this season, no club can boast of a better record.

The four goals came from their two in-form strikers Diawise Taylor and Kwame Boateng, with both scoring a brace.

Karela made a brilliant start and deservedly opened the scoring in the 12th minute through Taylor.

However, John Andoh stunned them when he restored parity for Chelsea in the 29th minute.

Chelsea, after scoring defended well to prevent Karela from scoring as the first half ended in a stalemate.

After the break, Karela came with a different strategy and paid dividends as they scored three goals.

Boateng scored the first a minute after the break and scored again in the 60th minute to put the game beyond the reach of Chelsea.

Taylor grabbed his brace in the 74th minute to make it 4-1, which the two teams could not change it until fulltime.

While Karela are now top of the league, Chelsea are two points above the relegation zone.
