2021/22 Ghana Premier League: Week 13 Match Report - AshantiGold 4-0 Elmina Sharks

Published on: 16 January 2022

AshantiGold SC were ruthless on Sunday as they ended their six-match winless streak to record their first win in the Ghana Premier League in 2022 at the Len Clay Stadium.

The Miners needed a double from Seth Osei and two other goals from Elijah Addai and Yaw Annor to compound the woes of struggling Elmina Sharks FC.

AshantiGold claimed an emphatic 4-0 win in Obuasi to move away from the relegation zone.

Thomas Duah made three alterations to the squad that lost 3-1 to Asante Kotoko SC in the Ashanti derby last week in Kumasi.

Kofi Mensah returned to man the posts after lengthy layoff. Mensah came back into starting lineup after recovering from an injury he sustained in matchday four.

Elijah Addai and Kamaradini Mamudu also earned starting places as they took the places of Abdul Salam and Richard Osei Agyemang respectively.

Addai scored in his second consecutive game to give AshantiGold the lead in the 35th minute following their dominance over Sharks.

Annor doubled the advantage for the home side three minutes from recess with a fine strike.

Osei scored twice in the 71st and 84th minutes to ensure AshantiGold returned to winning ways in grand style.

Sharks continue with their struggling as they have now lost all of their last six  premiership matches to comfortably languish bottom on the league standings.
