Published on: 16 January 2022

Hearts of Oak produced a really impressive display on Sunday afternoon to secure a big win against Eleven Wonders in the Ghana Premier League.

Kofi Kordzi scored a brace with Salim Adams and Daniel Barnieh also finding the net to help the Phobians record a 4-1 win at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The sort of response Hearts fans expected following a midweek controversial loss to Medeama in the outstanding match.

The Phobians dominated Wonders, and fortunately for them, they took their chances and as a result of the win, Hearts have moved up to sixth.

Hearts, who have played one game less, are now seven points adrift of the top spot as the first round nears a conclusion.

Adams scored a trademark bullet shot from range in the 19th minute to give Hearts a deserved lead which they protected to end the first half in front.

After the break, Kordzi increased the lead with a header inside the box after a sweet cross from Salifu Ibrahim.

Minutes later, Kordzi made it 3-0 from the spot after his strike partner Barnieh was fouled in the box. The goals were Kordzi’s sixth and seventh of the season, with the forward a goal behind top scorer David Abagna, who is in Cameroon with Black Stars for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Barnieh then scored the fourth before Wonders’ consolation goal arrived in the 84th minute through Tetteh Nortey.

Wonders remain in the relegation zone due to the defeat.
