2021/22 Ghana Premier League: Week 26 Match Preview- Accra Lions vs Hearts of Oak

Published on: 21 April 2022

Ghana Premier League newcomers Accra Lions will host champions Hearts of Oak on Friday in their matchday 26 encounter.

The host go into the game full of confidence after back-to-back victories in their last two games, beating Karela United at home and travelling to Kumasi to defeat King Faisal.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak have won only one of their last four matches, including a defeat to arch-rivals Asante Kotoko.

Hearts of Oak's defence of the league title looks to be over as they trail the Porcupine Warriors by 16 points.

Accra Lions look on course to survive in their first campaign in the elite division, as they currently 10 on the league table and are five points adrift of the drop.

However, they go into their game against the Phobians without first-choice goalie Fredrick Asare, who was red carded in the game against King Faisal. Appiah Kubi is expected to deputize and the team will also welcome the return of Daniel Awuni, who is done serving his one match suspension.

Hearts of Oak are still without goalkeeper Richard Attah and Sulley Muntari, who has missed the last four games. Samuel Inkoom is expected to start after netting his first goal for the club in the match against Elmina Sharks.

The Rainbow club defeated Accra Lions 3-0 in the first round.

Accra Lions will dwell on their rich home form, which has seen them won their last four matches at the Accra Sports Stadium, while Hearts of Oak will be hoping to rediscover their form.
