Asante Kotoko will be bidding to return to winning ways and strengthen their grip on the first position in the Ghana Premier League table when they make the trip to Tarkwa to face second-placed Medeama on Sunday afternoon.

Kotoko appeared to have sealed the title weeks ago, but three losses in their last five games have opened up the title race.

They were stunned at home last weekend by Berekum Chelsea, who had a man sent off early in the second half.

The defeat leaves them with a six-point lead at the top with four games remaining. However, they have an outstanding match against regional rivals AshantiGold.

Medeama are the team that is currently putting pressure on Kotoko. The Mauves and Yellows have seemingly appeared from nowhere and are beginning to believe they can win their first top-flight title.

They are second in the table and trail Kotoko by six points, which they hope to cut to three by the end of Sunday's match at the T & A Park.

Medeama are in excellent form, having won three and drawn two of their last five games. As a result, they are slight favourites to win, especially with the support of their raucous home fans.

Kotoko won the first meeting between the two teams earlier this season. It is, however, a different situation now. Medeama exudes confidence, whereas Kotoko appears to be out of sorts.

Medeama are highly motivated to avenge their defeat in Kumasi and take the title race down to the wire, so Kotoko will have to be at their best to win.

The Porcupine Warriors haven't enjoyed themselves in Tarkwa in recent years, with no wins in their last six visits. Medeama have won four and will try to make it five in seven games today.
