2021/22 Ghana Premier League: Week 5 Match Report- WAFA 1-0 Great Olympics

Published on: 27 November 2021

Justus Torsutsey's late penalty earned WAFA their first win of the 2021/22 season after beating Great Olympics at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope.

The Academy boys had to wait till the 96th minute after Marvin Owusu was fouled in the box, for Torsutsey to score the winner.

The visitors started the game brightly earning an early corner but failed to take advantage of the set piece.

However, the game switched immediately as WAFA began to take control, creating chances but could just not break the deadlock.

Sampson Agyapong's corner halfway through the first half nearly resulted in a goal, before the midfielder had a free kick also go wide.

WAFA dominated the half but had nothing to show for it as both sides went into the break without a goal.

The Sogakope boys returned from the break determined to get their first win of the campaign, but Great Olympics defended resolutely.

Justus Torsutsey came close a couple of times with Marvin Owusu nearly getting the opener.

WAFA made two changes with twenty minutes left as Sampson Agyapong and Samed Abdul Karim were replaced by Razak Simpson and Godwin Agbevor respectively.

Just when it looked like the game will end in a draw, Marvin Owusu won WAFA a penalty after he was impeded in the box.

Torsutsey elected himself for the spot kick and expertly rolled it into the right corner as WAFA secured their first win of the campaign.
