2021/22 Ghana Premier League: Week 6 Match Preview - AshantiGold vs. Legon Cities

Published on: 05 December 2021

AshantiGold SC will try and bounce back from last week's defeat at Tamale on Sunday afternoon when they play host to Legon Cities FC in a matchday six fixture.

The Miners will be counting on their recent home form to search for the rebound points at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.

AshantiGold are unbeaten in their last six home matches in the league, achieving three wins and three draws in the process.

The Gold and Black outfit drew 1-1 with Karela United and won 2-0 against Hearts of Oak at Obuasi this campaign.

The Miners go into the match without first choice goalkeeper Kofi Mensah who is out with an injury he sustained against Hearts a fortnight ago.

Dennis Votere will keep the posts once again on Sunday.

However, AshantiGold are welcoming back Frank Akoto from injury and is available for selection.

Cities have fared dismally in their last three matches in the premiership and are making the trip to Obuasi with the mindset of getting back to winning ways.

The Royals have lost two to Great Olympics and Aduana Stars and drawn with WAFA SC in the last rounds of the league.

Looking to bounce back in Obuasi will seem a daunting task but their form against AshantiGold last season gives them hope.

Cities prevailed over the Miners 5-2 in Accra and 1-0 at the Len Clay Stadium last campaign.

Stalwart defender Joseph Adjei is expected to be fit for Sunday's match. He didn't finish the game against Aduana after picking up an injury.

After a lengthy layoff, Michael Ampadu is available for selection against AshantiGold.
