2021/22 Ghana Premier League: Week 8 Match Preview – Medeama SC vs Legon Cities

Published on: 14 December 2021

Medeama will seek to continue their recent surge in form when they battle Legon Cities on match day-8 of the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday.

The Mauve and Yellows recorded a crucial 1-0 win at Real Tamale United on Sunday to move up to 11th with a game outstanding.

Coach Umar Abdul Rabi's charges are beginning to find their feet after a difficult start to the season.

Medeama are undefeated since their opening match day drubbing at Bechem United.

They have managed two wins and three days in the process with a game against Hearts of Oak outstanding.

A win over Legon Cities will take them to 12 points and will cushion them in their top-four pursuit.

There is still no sign of midfield maestro Rashid Nortey - who has been knocked back with an injury since the opening day fixture.

Nortey has not been involved in the last six matches but appears he could return from the setback sooner than expected.

Team cohesion is building up in the set-up as they host the Royals at the Akoon Park on Wednesday.

Legon Cities themselves have flattered to deceive since the start of the season with coach Maxwell Konadu requiring an emergency parachute.

They have won just a single game, drawn four and lost 2 to remain 12th on the table with a paltry 7 points.

The absence of Jonah Attuquaye has done more damage to the club as they have struggled with fluidity in the team.

Legon Cities last visit to the Akoon Park ended in a 2-1 defeat but that also marked the beginning of a difficult spell for Medeama midfielder Justice Blay as he suffered a serious injury - which kept him out of action for eight months.
