The Gambia snatched a point against Mali courtesy of a last-minute penalty as both teams moved to the brink of qualifying for the knockout stage of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ibrahim Kone gave Mali the lead on 79 minutes as he converted a penalty awarded by VAR.
Mali, whose opening day win over Tunisia was marred by controversy, thought they had secured another three points to book their place in the last 16.
But the debutants were also awarded a penalty by VAR in the 90th minute. Musa Barrow stepped up and scored to salvage a point for the Gambia.
The Gambia and Mali are both on four points after two games, which could prove enough to qualify for the knock-out stages as one of four best third-placed teams.
The Gambia, the lowest-ranked team in the competition, beat Mauritania 1-0 in their first-ever Nations Cup game and a place in the last 16 would be a fine achievement for Tom Saintfiet's Scorpions.
