2022-23 Ghana Premier League: Samartex, Kotoku Royals and Berekum Chelsea begin season at alternative home venues

Ghana Premier League clubs Kotoku Royals FC, Berekum Chelsea and FC Samartex have had their venues rejected by the Club Licensing Committee ahead of the new season.

The three clubs will start their 2022-23 campaign at their alternative match venues after their home venues have been rejected after the committee's last review.

Samartex's Nsekyire Sports Arena, and the Akyem Oda Sports Stadium, home of Royals were deemed as under construction due to non-completion of the very major aspects of the match venue.

Berekum's Golden City Park was also deemed non-satisfactory after failing to meet certain laid down requirements and recommendations

Samartex, Royals and Chelsea have the opportunity to request for re-inspection on September 25, 2022.

The Licensing Committee will only conduct another inspection of Premiership venues on the aforementioned date.

Samartex will begin their debut campaign in the Ghanaian top-flight at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi while Royals and Chelsea use Dawu Park and Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa Ahenkro respectively.

The remaining fifteen clubs including giants Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak have been granted conditional approval to use their home grounds pending certain the completion of some aspects.

There shall be spot-check inspection beginning September 30, 2022 to ascertain whether clubs have maintained the standards especially the condition of the pitch.
