2022/23 Ghana Premier League: Week 1 Match Preview – Gold Stars vs Dreams FC

Gold Stars head into their second year in the Ghana Premier League with an enhanced reputation after a goodish debut campaign saw them finish 10th on the table.

The Bibiani-based side open their campaign with a home match against Dreams FC at Dun’s Park.

Michael Osei’s boys had a good pre-season as they remained undefeated in 11 matches with their final match ending in a 2-1 success thanks to goals from Charles Kamara Gyamfi and Steven Owusu.

The Miners are determined one better and showed that in their offseason recruitment.

They re-signed Richmond Opoku Manu (9090) from the Burkinabé side ASFA Yennenga on a one-year deal with option for further season.

The experienced and versatile Empem Dacosta are in their stables and former King Faisal winger Mawuli Wayo has joined.

In attack, Bibiani Gold Stars will be powered by Laar Ibrahim who joined from Techiman Eleven Wonders.

Midfielder Shafiq Muntari formerly of Dibba Al Hisn,  Ashantigold and Real Tamale United .

Former Asante Kotoko right back Atta Kusi is in.

Dreams FC finished 13th last term and six points above the relegation mark.

Head coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu handled pre-season and maybe time for us to see his handwriting on the team.

Dreams signed experienced defender Samuel Arthur and goalkeeper Lord Bawa Martey from relegated Elmina Sharks.

They promoted duo Abdul Aziz Issah and Wisdom Yevu from their youth team- Still Believe FC.

A first-class graduate from the University of Mines and Technology (UMAT), David Van Dijk signed for Dreams and right back Charles Owusu was snatched from second division side Pac Academy.
