2022/23 Ghana Premier League: Week 19 Match Report – Legon Cities 1-1 Tamale City

Published on: 01 March 2023

Legon Cities and Tamale City shared the spoils on Wednesday afternoon at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.

The two teams had a lot to play for as they battled it out in what promised to be a highly contested encounter. Legon Cities, who were looking to bounce back from their defeat in the previous game, started the game brightly, and they took the lead.

In the 37th minute, Legon Cities were awarded a penalty after a foul on one of their players inside the box. Kofi Kordzi stepped up to take the spot-kick and calmly slotted it into the bottom left corner to give his side the lead.

Tamale City responded well to going behind and started to put pressure on the Legon Cities' defence. They were rewarded for their persistence in the 49th minute when Sampson Eduku equalised for the visitors.

After the equaliser, both teams continued to create chances, but they were unable to convert them into goals. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with both teams having to settle for a point each.

Legon Cities moved up one place to 14th on the league table, while Tamale City remained second from the bottom. Despite their position, Tamale City will take heart from their unbeaten run of three games and look to build on it in their upcoming fixtures.
