2022 World Cup: Ghana FA to line up at least three friendlies for Black Stars in June

The Ghana Football Association is planning on securing three- high-profile friendlies for the Black Stars ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

Ghana has been paired alongside Portugal, Uruguay, and the Korea Republic in Group H of the tournament which will be played between November and December.

The Black Stars open their campaign against Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal on November 24 in what will be a repeat of the 2014 final group game in Brazil which the team lost 2-1.

The Ghana FA is in talks with some Football Associations and agencies in securing friendly matches which will be played during the FIFA international break in the month on June.

The friendlies will be against opponents who have also qualified for the 2022 World Cup to be staged in Qatar, according to sources.

GHANAsoccernet.com understands that talks are far advanced to play USA, Mexico in those friendlies.

The FA officials are also considering friendly games against European and Asian opponents.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers starts in June and Ghana will find out it opponents on April 19 when the draw is held.

The Ghana FA will have to meander its way in securing dates for the international friendlies as the AFCON qualifiers starts in that month.

Some of the games are likely to be played in the month of September, which will be two months away from the World Cup.
