2022 World Cup qualifiers: Black Stars to return from South Africa today after Ethiopia draw

Published on: 12 November 2021

The Black Stars will arrive in Accra today from Johannesburg via a chartered flight after their World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia on Thursday at the Orlando Sports Stadium.

The game ended 1-1 with Ghana needing a win against South Africa in the final group game of the World Cup qualifiers in order to secure a spot in the play-offs.

The team  head straight to Cape Coast to continue with preparations ahead of their final 2022 World Cup qualifier against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa when they arrive in the country.

It is a must win for the Black Stars following the 1-1 draw against the Welias of Ethiopia on Thursday . Andre Ayew put the Black Stars in the lead from a set piece before the Ethiopians got the equalizer after a howler at the back from Joseph Aidoo.

Ghana have been handed a boost ahead of the game  following the return of Alexander Djiku and perhaps Thomas Partey.

Djiku was suspended for the game against Ethiopia and will be available for the all-important game against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

GHanasoccernet.com understands Thomas Partey will fly to Ghana to be assessed by the medical team ahead of the game.

The Black Stars need a win to book a place in the play-offs spot.
