2022 World Cup qualifiers: Ghana handed massive Djiku boost ahead of South Africa

Published on: 12 November 2021

Ghana's Black Stars go into the crucial final Group G game with some good news following the return of dependable defender Alexander Djiku from suspension.

The French-born center back missed the Ethiopia clash after back-to-back yellow cards in the game against Zimbabwe.

Djiku was with the team in South Africa for the Ethiopia match, which ended 1-0.

The Strasbourg player is expected to replace Joseph Aidoo in the starting line up against South Africa on Sunday, following the Celta Vigo man's poor performance.

Aidoo missed pass led to Ethiopia's second half equalizer at the Orlando Stadium after Andre Ayew had given the Black Stars a first half lead.

The Black Stars need victory over South Africa to reach the play-offs of the 2022 World Cup.
