2022 World Cup qualifiers: Referee allowed Ghana play aggressively - South Africa coach Broos
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is not entirely happy with the performance of his players in the win over Zimbabwe.

South Africa coach Hugo Broos described as difficult his side's clash with Ghana in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers on Sunday night at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Broos said they played against a difficult opponent who were aggressive and accused the Senegalese referee Ndiaye Maguette of allowing Black Stars to play that way.

The Belgian tactician lost for the first time at the hands of Ghana as Andre Ayew scored a controversial to give Black Stars a 1-0 win over Bafana Bafana.

The result secured Ghana’s place in the play-offs while South Africa who led the group since matchday two have been eliminated.

“I congratulate Ghana for qualification for the next round but I also have to congratulate my team also because we played a very difficult game in very difficult circumstances.

We played against an opponent who was very aggressive and the referee allowed them to play like that, so it was very difficult for us to get a good result here today but, again, when you see what we did in the last three months, I’m very proud about my team,” Broos said.

South Africa are enraged with the penalty awarded Ghana and have made clear their intention to lodge a formal complaint to FIFA and CAF.
