Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have ended their winless run after edging leaders FC Samartex 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in a 2023/24 Ghana Premier League match week 27 encounter.
Enock Morrison converted the crucial penalty to end the Porcupine Warriors’ run of seven games, without a win, finally securing victory in the eighth.
Victory means the record Ghanaian champions move up to 10th on the Ghana Premier League table with 36 points after starting the day on two places below that.
Despite the defeat, FC Samartex are still top of the table with 49 points, maintaining a five-point gap following Nations FC’s defeat to Heart of Lions.
The visitors bravely held on to draw goalless in the first 45 minutes but were unable to do same in the second after giving away a penalty in the hour mark.
Morrison stepped up to convert it and give Asante Kotoko a much-needed victory.
