2023 AFCON qualifier: Ghana coach Otto Addo lauds Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew

Published on: 02 June 2022

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has lauded the performance of Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew following their 3-0 win over Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The 30-year-old put up a Man of the Match display as the Black Stars cruised to a comfortable victory at the Cape Coast stadium on Wednesday.

A goal apiece from Ajax midfielder Kudus Mohammed, Felix Afena-Gyan and substitute Osman Bukari ensured that coach Otto Addo's side got their qualifying campaign underway in style.

Goalkeeper Razakirina produced an outstanding save in the 35th minute to deny Ayew from scoring with a rasping strike from 45 yards.

"Jordan played very well, he created numerous chances but their goalkeeper was excellent," coach Addo said during the post-match press conference.

The result means Ghana go top of Group E with a better goal difference after Angola defeated Central Africa Republic 2-1 in the group's other game earlier in the day with a better goal difference.

The Black Stars will travel to play the Central African Republic in four days' time while Madagascar hosts Angola in the group's other game.
