Ghana’s Black Galaxies will seek to secure qualification when they face the CHAN Eagles of Nigeria in the second leg of the 2023 African Nations Championship in Abuja on Saturday.

Goals from Daniel Afriyie Barnie and Suraj Seidu inspired the Black Galaxies to a 2-0 win against their Nigerian counterparts in the first leg at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Speaking after the game, Ghana coach Annor Walker insisted he and his charges will not allow Nigeria to overturn the results in Abuja, saying the Black Galaxies are qualifying for the CHAN.

“We are done with the first leg; we will be going back to the drawing board with my able assistant coaches before we depart Ghana. We also have some friendlies before the return leg, we will plan for a strategy because we cannot sit down for the Nigerians to overturn two goal deficit. We will make sure we win or fight for what we have to qualify the team in Nigeria. For sure we are qualifying for CHAN”.

The Ghana Football Association Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum stated in an interview he is confident the team’s outstanding bonuses will not be a problem and a big reward awaits them should they qualify.

“Looking at the crucial stage of the qualifiers we are in and just when we are about to make history, this shouldn’t be an issue for the players. They would even get a much bigger reward if they can qualify for the tournament itself”.

Ghana has missed out in the last three editions of the tournament and are close to making a return to the tournament if they eliminate West African rivals Nigeria in the game.

The second leg of this tie comes off next Saturday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
