Karela United

Karela United boosted their survival hopes with a spirited 2-0 victory over Aduana FC at the Naa Sheriga Sports Centre in Nalerigu on Sunday.

A brace from Alhassan Adamu, who struck in the 13th and 55th minutes, sealed a vital three points for the home side.

From the onset, Karela played with intent, urgency and desire, dominating the midfield and pressing their visitors high up the pitch. Their early pressure paid off when Adamu pounced on a defensive lapse to slot home the opener. Aduana FC, who have struggled away from home all season, failed to find any rhythm and spent long spells chasing the game.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Karela maintaining their intensity. Adamu doubled the lead ten minutes after the restart, heading home from close range to take his tally for the game to two and put the result beyond doubt.

Karela, fighting to avoid the drop, looked sharper and more determined throughout. The victory takes them to 28 points and keeps them just above the relegation zone, a welcome relief for coach Nurudeen Amadu and his charges.

For Aduana FC, it was another disappointing outing on the road, continuing a troubling trend. They have now won just two of their 14 away games this season. The defeat leaves them dangerously close to the drop zone and back into a relegation battle they have been trying to distance themselves from.

Karela’s survival hopes are alive, while Aduana’s woes continue.
