Aduana FC will face off with regional rivals Berekum Chelsea in a keenly anticipated Bono derby at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Stadium on Sunday in the Ghana Premier League.
Separated by just three points on the table, the two sides enter the contest in contrasting form. Aduana, currently 11th with 38 points from 29 matches, will be looking to recover from last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Asante Kotoko. The loss marked a stumble in what has been an inconsistent campaign, with the Ogya Boys struggling to string together a strong run of form.
Berekum Chelsea, meanwhile, travel to Dormaa Ahenkro buoyed by back-to-back victories over Nations FC and Bechem United. Sitting 9th with 41 points, the Blues are aiming to make it three wins in a row for the first time since the first half of the season. However, their away record remains a worry, with the team conceding in each of their last eight matches on the road.
The recent head-to-head record slightly favours Aduana, who have two wins in their last six meetings with Chelsea since November 2022. Three of those games ended in stalemates, including their most recent clash in December 2024 which ended 0-0.
Statistically, Aduana have scored 25 goals and conceded 24 this season, averaging less than a goal per game in attack. Berekum Chelsea have fared slightly better in front of goal, netting 29 times while letting in 26. Both teams have had mixed results over their last 20 matches, with seven wins apiece.
As always with local derbies, form often takes a backseat, and Sunday’s clash promises to be a competitive and tense affair as both sides look to climb into the top half of the table.
